चित्रवर्णनस्य आदर्शः
 शिक्षिका —  इदं चित्रं पश्यतु। चित्रे किं किं दृश्यते? 
Look at this picture. What all can be seen in it?  
 छात्रः —  चित्रे एकः लघुः ग्रामः दृश्यते। ग्रामस्य समीपे नदी वहति। 
A small village is seen in the picture. Near the village a river flows.  
 शिक्षिका —  जनाः किं कुर्वन्ति? 
What are the people doing?  
 छात्रः —  धावन्तः बालकाः क्रीडन्ति। एका बालिका गायन्ती नदीं गच्छति। 
Running boys are playing. A girl goes to the river singing.  
 शिक्षिका —  अन्यत् किम्? 
What else?  
 छात्रः —  यः वृद्धः वृक्षस्य अधः उपविष्टः सः बालकेभ्यः कथां कथयति। “रामायणस्य कथा” इति मन्ये! 
The old man who is seated under the tree is telling the children a story. The Rāmāyaṇa story, I think!  

विवरणम् · Explanation

चित्रवर्णनस्य क्रमः — (१) “किं दृश्यते?” इति कर्मणि रूपेण आरभतु। (२) विशेषणैः वस्तूनि वर्णयतु — लघुः ग्रामः, उन्नताः वृक्षाः। (३) कृदन्तैः क्रियाः वदतु — धावन्तः बालकाः, गायन्ती बालिका। (४) यः-सः युगलेन सूक्ष्मं वर्णयतु। (५) “इति मन्ये” इत्यनेन स्वमतं वदतु।

The five-step description method: (1) open with the passive — चित्रे … दृश्यते; (2) add agreeing adjectives; (3) catch actions with participles — धावन्तः बालकाः; (4) zoom in with यः…सः relative pairs; (5) close with your own guess — इति मन्ये. Five steps, five Level-5 tools.

संभाषणस्य लक्ष्यम् — विंशतिनिमेषपर्यन्तं संस्कृतेन एव! उपायाः — प्रश्नान् पृच्छतु (किं दृश्यते? किं श्रूयते?), कथाः पुनः वदतु, “न ज्ञायते” “इति मन्ये” इत्यादीनि साहाय्यवाक्यानि योजयतु। स्खलनं भवतु नाम — वदनं न त्यजतु!

Your conversation target: twenty minutes in Sanskrit only. Keep it alive with questions (किं दृश्यते? किं श्रूयते?), retell this level's four stories, and lean on lifelines like न ज्ञायते and इति मन्ये. Mistakes are welcome — stopping is the only failure!
