 छात्रः —  अत्र पाठाः पठ्यन्ते, उत्तराणि च लिख्यन्ते। 
Here lessons are read and answers are written.  
 शिक्षिका —  उत्तमम्। पुस्तकानि केन दीयन्ते? 
Excellent. By whom are the books given?  
 छात्रा —  पुस्तकानि शिक्षकेण दीयन्ते। मासे एकवारं परीक्षा अपि क्रियते। 
The books are given by the teacher. Once a month an exam is also held.  
 शिक्षिका —  गृहे किं क्रियते? 
And what is done at home?  
 छात्रः —  मम गृहे भोजनं पित्रा क्रियते! 
In my house the cooking is done by my father!  

विवरणम् · Explanation

नूतनानि कर्मणि रूपाणि — लिखति → लिख्यते, पठति → पठ्यते, ददाति → दीयते, करोति → क्रियते। दीयते क्रियते च किञ्चित् भिन्ने दृश्येते — कण्ठस्थं कुरुतु।

New passives: लिख्यते (is written), पठ्यते (is read), and two with changed stems worth memorising outright — ददाति → दीयते (is given) and करोति → क्रियते (is done/made).

सम्पूर्णं सूत्रं स्मरतु — कर्ता तृतीयायाम् (शिक्षकेण), कर्म प्रथमायाम् (पुस्तकानि), क्रियापदं कर्मणः वचनम् अनुसरति (दीयन्ते)। कर्ता अनुक्तः अपि भवितुम् अर्हति — “अत्र संस्कृतं पठ्यते” इति।

The full recipe: doer in the third case (शिक्षकेण), object in the first case (पुस्तकानि), and the verb agrees with the object's number (दीयन्ते). The doer can simply be left out: अत्र संस्कृतं पठ्यते — Sanskrit is studied here.

“बालकः फलं खादति” — कर्मणि किम्? Convert to the passive.

वाक्यं रचयतु — “The book is given by the teacher.” Arrange the words.

कर्तरि-कर्मणि योजयतु। Match active to passive.

भवतः/भवत्याः गृहस्य दिनचर्यां कर्मणि प्रयोगेण वर्णयतु — “प्रातः मात्रा चायः क्रियते। पुस्तकं मया पठ्यते। भोजनं सायं क्रियते।” षड् वाक्यानि वदतु — त्रिषु वाक्येषु कर्तारं वदतु, त्रिषु कर्तारं त्यजतु।

Describe your home routine entirely in the passive: मात्रा चायः क्रियते… Six sentences — three naming the doer in तृतीया, three with the doer left out entirely.
