कुत्र, कदा, कथम्, किमर्थम् इति प्रश्नाः।

Four more question words to keep any conversation going.

विवरणम् · Explanation

“कुत्र” — स्थानप्रश्नः, उत्तरम् “अत्र / तत्र / विद्यालयम्…”। “कदा” — कालप्रश्नः, उत्तरम् “अद्य / श्वः / सायम्…”। “कथम्” — प्रकारप्रश्नः। “किमर्थम्” — कारणप्रश्नः।

Each question word calls a matching kind of answer: कुत्र “where?” → a place; कदा “when?” → a time word like अद्य (today), श्वः (tomorrow), सायम् (in the evening); कथम् “how?” → a manner word like शीघ्रम् (fast), मन्दम् (slowly); किमर्थम् “why?” → a purpose, often with -अर्थम्: पठनार्थम् “for studying”.

“विद्यालयं गच्छामि” — गन्तव्यस्थाने “-म्” इति भवति। “त्वं गच्छसि” — त्वम् इति शब्देन सह क्रियापदं “-सि” इति भवति।

Two patterns to notice: the destination takes -म् (विद्यालयः → विद्यालयं गच्छामि “I go to school”), and with त्वम् the verb ends in -सि: त्वं गच्छसि “you go”. You will drill these endings fully in lesson 10.
