Action verbs everywhere — a trip to the market

I'm going to the market. Are you coming too?  
 पुत्री —  आम्, आगच्छामि! अहं स्यूतम् आनयामि। 
Yes, I'm coming! I'll bring the bag.  
 माता —  अहं फलानि शाकं च क्रीणामि। त्वं किम् इच्छसि? 
I'm buying fruits and vegetables. What do you want?  
 पुत्री —  अहं कदलीफलम् इच्छामि। … अम्ब, मूल्यं जानासि वा? 
I want a banana. … Mom, do you know the price?  
 माता —  आम्, जानामि — दश कदलीफलानि त्रिंशत् रूप्यकाणि। अहं सम्यक् स्मरामि। 
Yes, I know — ten bananas are thirty rupees. I remember it well.  
 पुत्री —  अहं चिन्तयामि — विंशतिः फलानि क्रीणीमः! 
I'm thinking — let's buy twenty!  
 माता —  अस्तु! त्वं स्यूतं वहसि वा? 
Alright! Will you carry the bag?  
 पुत्री —  आम्, अहं वहामि। ततः गृहं धावामः! 
Yes, I'll carry it. Then let's run home!  

विवरणम् · Explanation

नूतनानि क्रियापदानि — “क्रीणामि” (buy), “आनयामि” (bring), “नयामि” (take), “वहामि” (carry), “जानामि” (know), “स्मरामि” (remember), “चिन्तयामि” (think), “धावामि” (run)। सर्वाणि लट्-रूपाणि एव — “-आमि, -सि, -ति” इति।

Eight workhorse verbs join your kit: क्रीणामि buy, आनयामि bring, नयामि take/lead, वहामि carry, जानामि know, स्मरामि remember, चिन्तयामि think, धावामि run. They all follow the endings you know — only the stems are new. Note the -ति forms: क्रीणाति, जानाति (slightly irregular — memorise them as chunks).

“आनयति” इति “brings here”, “नयति” इति “takes there” — आ-उपसर्गः दिशां परिवर्तयति, यथा “गच्छति / आगच्छति”।

The prefix आ- flips direction, just as in गच्छति/आगच्छति: नयति “takes away”, आनयति “brings here”. Watch for this pattern — Sanskrit builds many verbs this way.
